About Us

Meet Andrea

The CEO and Founder of Gondel Training and Mentoring

Greetings and Welcome! I’m Andrea Melzer, coach, mentor, trainer, and training development specialist at Gondel, as well as the Founder of Gondel Training and Mentoring Services. My goal is to help you overcome challenges and unlock new opportunities for personal and professional growth. With over a decade of experience in Health and Social Care, along with extensive expertise in Teaching, Training, Life Coaching, and Project Management, I bring a wealth of qualifications to guide and support you on your journey. I am a certified trainer and trauma-informed coach, with degrees and qualifications in Theology, Social Work, Education Management, and Project Management. Additionally, I am a registered member of Social Work England, hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England, and have a globally recognized Bachelor's degree in Teaching. My fascination with trauma and its impact on human development has been a lifelong journey. Each step in creating Gondel has been infused with my passion for helping others. Through my extensive experiences, I have crafted the Gondel Method and corresponding training materials, designed to empower you to reach your fullest potential. Here’s a glimpse into my journey: Frontline Social Work Experience: Working across England, Hungary, and Romania has given me extensive experience supporting vulnerable adults, elderly people, young people, children, and families facing trauma, adversity, conflict, and complex life challenges. These frontline roles have provided me with deep insight into trauma-related behaviours, emotional wellbeing, relationship dynamics, and the practical realities of supporting people through difficult circumstances. Empowering Vulnerable, Children, Young People and their Families: Throughout my career, I have worked alongside local authorities in Greater London, applying trauma-informed approaches to support vulnerable children, young people, and families. This has included working with looked-after children, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, young people in residential care, semi-independent placements, supported accommodation, assessment centres, and care homes. My responsibilities included safeguarding, child protection, care planning, and advocating for children and young people, including within court proceedings. Trauma-informed practice was central to this work, helping ensure that each child's emotional, psychological, and developmental needs were understood and appropriately supported. Youth Work and Programme Leadership: As a youth worker and programme manager in Hungary and Romania, I led initiatives designed to promote personal growth, resilience, wellbeing, and successful transitions into adulthood. Much of this work involved supporting young people who had experienced adversity, trauma, family breakdown, or care experiences, helping them develop confidence, life skills, and positive futures. Supporting Vulnerable Adults and Elderly People: My experience also extends to working with vulnerable adults, including individuals experiencing homelessness, social exclusion, and complex life challenges. I have contributed to the development of social care systems for elderly people and supported older adults living in care homes, rehabilitation centres, and hospice settings. I have also gained experience supporting individuals affected by substance misuse, further strengthening my understanding of the impact of trauma, loss, and vulnerability across the lifespan. The Foundation of the Gondel Method Trauma-Informed and Relationship-Centred Practice: My diverse experience across social work, youth work, safeguarding, child protection, adult services, and elderly care has shaped the development of the Gondel Method and my commitment to trauma-informed, relationship-centred practice.  Coaching, Training, Mentoring and Practical Support: Drawing on both frontline experience and professional training, I support individuals, professionals, and organisations working with vulnerable people through trauma-informed coaching, training, mentoring, relational support, and practical tools. My approach helps people better understand behaviour, strengthen communication, build resilience, and navigate conflict and challenging situations with confidence and compassion.  Personal and Professional Development: With a strong combination of practical experience, academic knowledge, and professional training, I help individuals and professionals develop greater self-awareness, enhance their skills, strengthen relationships, and grow in confidence when supporting others.  Transformation Through Challenge: Whether supporting personal growth, professional development, or organisational change, I help transform challenges into opportunities for learning, resilience, and meaningful progress. Through trauma-informed practice, coaching, training, and mentoring, I empower individuals and organisations to create lasting positive change.

Meet Our Collaborators

The Genesis of Gondel:
A Journey that Began in 2012

Take a trip down memory lane to the origins of Gondel, where the seeds of our training and mentoring service were planted in  September 2012.

The spark for Gondel ignited when Zelma Nagy, a valued participant in my prior training sessions, brought forth the idea of extending the Gondel service to her network. The inception moment, captured in the attached image, marks the commencement of our journey. Zelma, immersed in the realm of health and social care, particularly in hospital pastoral care, recognized the significance of introducing Gondel's unique training service to her colleagues. Driven by a passion for fostering growth and understanding, she extended invitations throughout her network.

This pivotal moment marked the genesis of Gondel Training and Mentoring, a journey propelled by the commitment to providing unparalleled conflict management training.

From that initial idea, we have evolved into a platform dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations with skills rooted in empathy, resilience, and growth.

As we reflect on these humble beginnings, Gondel remains steadfast in its mission to make a positive impact through transformative training.

Join us in celebrating the journey that began with a vision and continues to shape lives through the Gondel approach.

Samuel Stories

Therapeutic and Educational Stories

To further enrich our approach, Andrea Melzer began creating the Samuel Stories in 2014, a series of therapeutic and educational narratives rooted in the Gondel Method’s belief that difficult and challenging situations, including conflicts, can lead to growth and understanding.

The Samuel Stories were first published in Hungarian on March 22, 2014, on Andrea’s blog: https://melzerandi.blogspot.com/2014/03/kobe-vesett-szavak-avagyhomokba-irt.html.

These stories highlight the importance of words, empathy, and reflection in building healthier relationships. Each narrative supports personal growth and helps individuals process difficult and challenging situations, including conflict, through greater awareness and constructive dialogue.

We invite you to explore the Samuel Stories in the “Therapeutic and Educative Stories” section of our blog, where all six narratives offer insights to support better connection and understanding in everyday life.

It opened my eyes to handling workplace conflicts differently by understanding the impact of past trauma. This unique approach not only helped me to manage conflicts but turned them into better relationships. Learning trauma-informed language made conflicts feel safer, not just at work but in my personal life too. It helped me understand my colleagues, clients, and family better. This knowledge has positively influenced both my professional and personal life, leading to more effective conflict resolution and creating a culture that values empathy and collaboration.
